From the truck, I made a call to C&L Deer Processing (410.374.6424) in Hampstead and asked if anyone would be around to receive the deer. I was informed they were leaving for the night, but that they have a location for after hour drop offs. It was after 9:00 PM when I arrived at C&L. Alone under only a small single light bulb, I filled out the FHFH donation form. I had just completed my pledge to donate my first deer of the season to FHFH.

Broccoli is full of nutrients, including vitamin c and folate. Oily fish like salmon contain omega-3s, vitamins and minerals. Avocados are full of antioxidants, potassium, vitamins and good fats. Hunting is a sport of uncertainty and there are no guarantees that I will be blessed to harvest another deer this season. But even if i am not able to add some venison to my own freezer, the feeling of providing the much needed protein to those in need greatly surpasses the feeling of the extra meat in my own freezer.
